Meet the Artist

My name is Kristen Fisk and I am a pet portrait artist living in Pierson, Michigan with my husband, Earl and thirteen year old daughter Rachael.

I have been drawing and painting animals for as long as I can remember. I have always felt a deep connection with our canine, feline and equine counterparts. (pretty much anything on four legs or that wears feathers!)

At the age of twelve, I began showing my miniature poodle in 4-H obedience and junior showmanship. I also volunteered at my local
Humane Society on weekends and summers
during my high school years.

At the age of eighteen I began grooming pets professionally and teaching dog obedience classes. In 1992, I began raising and showing Shetland Sheepdogs. I have done several works of art for the American Shetland Sheepdog Association, including their National logo for 2003.

In 2004, I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and have been forced to put down my clippers after a professional grooming career of 20 years. I have also had to pass on my breeding program ( KristiLyn Shelties) to my dear friend and sheltie partner Lynne Gilbert. With which I am still a consulting partner.

I am now a stay at home mother of a toy poodle, " Ginger", a Standard Poodle "Wallie"
who is also my assistant and a rare breed skookum kitty named Cody. (a.k.a. Meorro)
I find living with a pet and sharing part of my life with them makes everything a little
easier and enriches my everyday. I experience this through those that I do portraits for as well. They treasure the relationships they have with their pets. I see their excitement in having a portrait drawn or painted and I am honored by their trust in my ability to capture the very essence of their special furry or feathered family member.

Now, due to my health and restrictions on mobility I have turned full time to my
interest in art.  I feel so fortunate to be able to do something that I love, that not only blesses me, but at times helps others deal with their grief over losing a
beloved friend and family member. For now, I have chosen to pick up my pencil and paint brush and do all of the pet portraits and whimsical painting I can do for as long as the grace of God allows.
God Bless You!

I hope you enjoy viewing my portraits as much as I enjoyed drawing and painting them!
